Shinan is an area in the Korean Peninsula that is home to 76 endangered wildlife species (13 in Class Ⅰ and 63 in Class Ⅱ). It also supports 1,878 species out of the 4,596 species found in the Korean Peninsula, accounting for 41% of the species distribution. Therefore, Shinan is not only a habitat for endangered species but also a region rich in biodiversity.

Shinan Native Plant Museum, located within the 1004 Museum Park, serves as a space for exhibiting, researching, and experiencing Shinan's native plants. It plays a significant role in promoting the high-value utilization and commercialization of indigenous plants, contributing to the activation of the local economy. The museum also serves as an important provider of services related to the conservation, management, and exhibition of rare native plants, while taking a pioneering role in the preservation of natural environments.

Shinan Native Plant Museum is composed as an exhibition space where the stories of indigenous plants associated with Shinan are efficiently conveyed and experienced through multimedia. The exhibition consists of over 20 graphic panels, real-life exhibits, 9 videos, 7 kiosks, augmented reality experiences with plants and insects, dioramas, and eco mosaics. In addition to the exhibition hall, the museum is equipped with a hands-on experience and education area called the experiential room, a research laboratory for plant specimen production and plant research, and a storage facility for plant and insect specimens.
